My Client & The Situation

The Art of Activism concert was born out of New York composer and vocalist, Majel Connery’s recent work, Elderflora- an oratio on the life and death of a tree. This work brought her to the Pacific Northwest in September 2024, for a residency at Cornish College of the Arts and to premiere Elderflora in a concert with the Seattle Symphony. There, she met cellist Jennifer Godfrey and they dreamed up a benefit concert to support The Last 6000, a civic advocacy campaign focused on protecting Seattle’s urban canopy.

Numinosity Design was tasked with creating a brand identity, website, social media assets, and promotional materials.

The event website would be crucial to provide a single place for folks to find information about the event and an important promotional tool in conjunction with the social media accounts of Cornish College of the Arts and other ecological activism campaigns in Seattle.

Our Results

The event brand amplified Majel’s inspiration and ecological advocacy in the form of an ancient redwood tree. The color palette was rooted in deep, primordial Pacific Northwest forests: trees, moss, and mist. The website was a singular place to find event information and press kit, and spotlighted the performing artists and panelists who discussed the intersection of art and activism. Promotional materials attracted interest online, on the Cornish College campus, and around the Seattle area.

The event, held outside Cornish College block party style drew not only community members and students but also passers-by called by Majel’s otherworldly, beautiful voice. The donations exceeded event expectations and met the event organizer’s hopes.

This project was a successful collaboration between Majel Connery, Jennifer Godfrey, Cornish College of the Arts, The Last 6000 campaign, and Numinosity Design. Moved by the event, Majel hopes to continue the Art of Activism concept in other cities in the future.
